Career



Heiko Ott, Investment Manager

Heiko has more than 7 years experience in research & development in the Life Sciences and Information Technology sector and close to 4 years of investment experience.

He started his career with studies in Biochemistry, Bioanorganic Chemistry, Biomathematics and Neurobiology and received his degree in biology from the University of Konstanz.

From 1995 to 2000, he was a research scientist in the emerging area of axon growth and regeneration in the central nervous system. Heiko was awarded a Ph.D. in developmental neurobiology and is a major contributor to several publications in leading journals of neuroscience, developmental and molecular cell biology.

Prior to this, Heiko received a degree in Information Science in 1997 where he was actively involved in Information Retrieval, Internet Technologies and Electronic Marketplaces. His project experience includes the development of a 3D virtual world for the Electronic Mall Bodensee – a cross-border marketplace pioneered by the University of St. Gallen – as well as the driving force behind production of a Guidebook for Microsoft Network.

Heiko joined BayTech Venture Capital in the beginning of 2001 as an Investment Professional in the fields of Life Sciences and Information Technology with a special focus on Biotechnology.

Heiko acts as an observer on the boards of IntegraGen SA in Paris, Pieris Proteolab AG in Munich and elbion AG in Dresden.
